# Fado Houses

 
Fado is not only the hallmark of Lisbon’s music scene, but also one of the greatest symbols of Portuguese identity. If you’re looking for a unique experience, we’re the perfect guide. In our opinion, these are some of the most iconic Fado houses in the capital:

**Friars' Table Restaurant**

A typical Lisbon Fado house, it takes advantage of the natural acoustics of a chapel to make the intimate atmosphere necessary for a good night of Fado even more special.
 It is located in Alfama, in an 18th century chapel located in the Palácio da Dona Rosa.

**Mr. Wine Restaurant**

Founded in 1975, it serves typical Portuguese cuisine, accompanied by Fado shows with the best singers, making it a reference point for Lisbon's nightlife. Sr. Vinho, also known as the “University of Fado”, is located in the Madragoa-Lapa neighborhood.

**Adega do Machado Restaurant**

Famous Fado House, founded in 1937, reinvented itself in June 2012.
 The city is sensed in the song born there, sung here, in the hubbub of passers-by, in what is eaten.
 Adega do Machado is located in the most Lisbon-style area, Bairro Alto.

**Restaurant O Faia**

Aromas and flavors that are discovered in a creative and contemporary cuisine, under the talent and dedication of Chef André Pola, without forgetting the tradition and respect for Portuguese cuisine.
 It is also located in Bairro Alto, just above Praça Luís de Camões.

**A Severa Restaurant** Founded in 1955, “A Severa” is one of the icons of the city of Lisbon.
 The name was inspired by the story of an old gypsy singer who was the most famous fado singer of her time, in the 19th century.
 It is located in Bairro Alto and serves traditional Portuguese cuisine.

Prices are around €50.00 per person with dinner and show included.
